Homes in cubic meters
Atelier Cedritos rises on a corner of the Cedritos neighborhood, in the north of Bogotá, an established residential area well connected to the rest of the city. The brief called for a building of compact studio apartments: small, efficient homes for people living alone or as a couple, without giving up shared life.
The building is organized over five floors. The first frees the ground level for collective life —reception, concierge, management and shared areas— and resolves vehicle access and bicycle parking under cover, so the street receives an active, transparent base. The four upper levels are given over entirely to housing, and the roof is crowned by a communal terrace.
The facade is of exposed brick, ordered by a vertical rhythm of tall windows that slims the five floors and gives scale to the corner. The measured occupation of the lot —a footprint index of 0.63— keeps air between the building and the sidewalk, and the emphasis on covered bicycle parking supports the neighborhood's mobility.
Atelier Cedritos is the origin of 57Uno's Atelier coliving series, a line later continued in other locations across the city.
From the studio to the corner
The initial sketch starts from one decision: to concentrate shared life on the ground floor so the homes —compact by definition— would gain the city on the first level and the sky on the terrace. On that idea the team fitted the volume to the corner, defined the vertical rhythm of windows and coordinated the project in a collaborative BIM model that integrated architecture, structure and services before building. Atelier Cedritos thus sets the pattern the series would later repeat.
