Single-family home in Los Angeles
On West Sunset Boulevard, in Los Angeles, the house takes in California's dry light among palm trees and low-water planting. Two sand-toned volumes, with timber screens and stone walls that retain the sloping lot, frame a fully glazed double-height entrance.
The main residence unfolds over two floors: the social program of the ground level extends into terraces and gardens, and the roof is inhabited as a lookout, with planting and hammocks instead of a mute rooftop. Accessory dwelling units (ADUs) complete the ensemble, and the aerial view reveals the green roof and the solar panels that accompany the project.
The commission is a collaboration between 57 Architecture and the firm ONE:ONE Designs, carried out entirely remotely from Bogotá: code analysis with GIS and ZIMAS — Los Angeles' zoning system — a survey of the lot's setbacks and continuous coordination with the client in California.
From the SketchUp concept to the permit submission set.
The project kicked off in late May 2025 with site analysis and options for the siting and ground floor; the SketchUp concept model moved to Revit in July of that year, reached 25% Construction Documents in November, tested ceiling-height options in early 2026 and arrived at an updated submission package in May 2026, with Lumion visualizations accompanying every delivery. The commission's reported phase is 50% Construction Documents.
